HISTORY

M.B.Butterfield & Co Pty/Ltd is a family owned business, founded in Adelaide in 1958 by Mervyn Bancroft Butterfield. Initially the company manufactured and repaired Hydreco hydraulic equipment. Then in 1969 with the changing of ownership of Hydreco and their new parent companies requirement to have all their subsidiaries under the one roof, Hydreco and MBB went their separate ways. At this time Commercial Hydraulics was just a new player in the hydraulic components field in Australia and MBB was approach to become the South Australia and Northern Territory manufacturing distributor for Commercial Hydraulics and as they say in the classics, the rest is history.

Over the ensuing years our engineering facilities have grown and diversified to embrace all facets of hydraulic equipment. To this end a wealth of knowledge has been gained in gear hydraulic technology, this knowledge translates into unsurpassed application engineering of gear products into systems of varied descriptions.

We manufacture new gear pumps and motors using the most comprehensive parts range in Australia. This is aligned with our ability to repair all brands of hydraulic equipment and if the need arises, build and or supply new machinery – either to match existing equipment or to meet your specifications.

Our knowledge encompasses mining, drilling, mobile cranes, agriculture, viticulture and materials handling.

Our clients come to us because of our company philosophy  – we will do it technically correct before price, but do it at an affordable price. Most importantly, we test all that we that sell.
